Singers and Musicians

Personally I must admit to having a preference for British traditional style folk songs and singing.  That doesn’t mean that I don’t like other types of music but I am a rather fussy old so and so. On the other hand some things which other people find absolutely vital to their enjoyment or understanding of Folk Singing may not bother me in the slightest.

You may well find that I have performers in this list who you think are primarily experts in another genre but what I have heard of them has pleased me. As an example I enjoy trying to learn Ed Pickford’s “The Workers Song”.  The versions I heard from Ed and Dick Gaughan didn’t really encourage me but when I heard the version by The Dropkick Murphys,  Now Boston Celtic Punk  was not an area I would have looked to for ideas but  I certainly like this one.

This is a base page for some of the performers I enjoy, ranging from those I have enjoyed for a long time to those I have recently met up with as I travel round.

For example,

Askew Sisters

Flossie Malavialle

Ian Bruce

Isla St Clair

Shep Woolley

Steeleye Span

Tannahill Weavers

Wildwood Jack
